what is nomenclature about? is it including the gold(II)hydroxide thing
Nomenclature is just naming. Like going from formulas to names and names to formulas. Gold(II) Hydroxide would be Au(OH)2. This is an example of an ionic compound but nomenclature also includes covalent. For example, Dihydrogen monoxide is H2O. For covalent just memorize all the prefixes and remember to ade “ide” at the end of the second element. For ionic use the method where you take the charges of both elements and swap them in your formula. An example for ionic would be Magnesium(Mg) Hydroxide(OH). Magnesium has a 2+ charge and Hydroxide has a charge of 1-. The formula therefore would be Mg(OH)2 because you flipped the charges for both elements.
